David Gilmour has announced a brand-new concert film, ‘Live At Circus Maximus, Rome’, capturing his unforgettable run of six sold-out shows at the historic Roman amphitheatre. The film follows Gilmour’s acclaimed Luck and Strange tour, launched in support of his fifth solo album of the same name.

Luck and Strange was a chart-topping success, reaching No.1 in multiple countries including the UK, Germany, Netherlands and Austria — landing in the US Top 10.

Gilmour kicked off the tour with intimate warm-up performances at the Brighton Centre before heading to the iconic Circus Maximus in Rome, then continuing to London’s Royal Albert Hall, LA’s Hollywood Bowl and Madison Square Garden in New York.

Shot against the stunning ruins of ancient Rome, the concert film was directed by long-time collaborator Gavin Elder and will be distributed globally by Sony Music Vision and Trafalgar Releasing. The film will screen in cinemas and IMAX theatres worldwide for a limited engagement starting September 17. Tickets go on sale August 6.

In addition to its theatrical release, ‘Live At The Circus Maximus, Rome’ will be available in an extensive home edition. A two-disc Blu-ray and three-disc DVD set — featuring previously unseen footage and audio mixed in both 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos — will be released on October 17.

Also arriving on the same date is The Luck and Strange Concerts, a live album compilation spanning 23 tracks across four LPs or two CDs. The album includes live renditions of Gilmour’s solo material along with Pink Floyd classics such as ‘Comfortably Numb’, ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Time’, ‘High Hopes’, ‘Breathe (In the Air)’ and ‘Sorrow’.

A super deluxe box set edition will feature both the film and the live album, accompanied by a 120-page hardback photo book with exclusive images from the tour, captured by Polly Samson.

Both the film and the concert album were co-produced by David Gilmour and Charlie Andrew, who also co-produced the original Luck and Strange studio album.
