Authorities suspended launch services on the Daulatdia–Paturia river route on Wednesday due to strong currents and rough waters in the Padma and Jamuna rivers.
The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) prescribed launch operations at 4:30 PM ber halted as a safety precaution. Traffic Supervisor at Daulatdia launch terminal, Shimul, confirmed that, following directives from higher authorities, launch services were postponed at 4:00 PM because of the turbulent river conditions. “Operations will resume once the weather improves,” he added.
Meanwhile, Salahuddin, Assistant General Manager of BIWTC Daulatdia Ghat branch, stated that ferry services on the route continue to operate despite the suspension of launches. “There are no queues at Daulatdia, and 12 small and large ferries are currently in service, ensuring smooth passenger and vehicle crossings,” he said.
