From now on, retail market prices across the country can be accessed directly from mobile phones. On Monday (June 23), Director General of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate Alim Akhtar Khan inaugurated a mobile Android application titled “Bajardor” (Market Price).
At the inauguration ceremony, it was announced that through this app, users will be able to find out the maximum retail prices of products in the markets of all 64 districts in the country from any location.
The app was developed completely free of charge by Daffodil Institute of IT, based on the requirements of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate.
The app’s developer, Ibrahim Molla, stated that the Bajardor app will ensure the free flow of information to prevent price manipulation in the market. As a result, it will become easier to ensure fair prices of essential agricultural products for consumers.
The Bajardor app can be downloaded on any Android phone. For users’ convenience, the app also offers offline usage capabilities.
The National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate will provide daily updates on retail market prices through the app.
At the event, Director General Alim Akhtar Khan said that when consumers are aware of the actual maximum prices of products, fraud related to pricing will gradually decrease.
