The ongoing curfew will remain in effect across Gopalganj district again from 8pm on Saturday until 6am on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Kamruzzaman announced the development on Saturday through a statement from his office.

It stated that following the curfew, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code — which prohibits the assembly of more than four people — will remain in effect from 6am until 8pm on Sunday.

However, the order clarifies that educational institutions and scheduled public examinations will be exempt from these restrictions.

The latest directive comes in continuation of previous restrictions. In an earlier notification dated July 17, the Home Ministry had announced that the ongoing curfew would remain in effect until 11am on Friday, with a brief three-hour suspension from 11am to 2pm.

Authorities in Gopalganj have relaxed the ongoing curfew for 14 hours on Saturday, allowing public movement from 6am to 8pm.

The local administration imposed the curfew following violent clashes between supporters of Awami League and law enforcers over a National Citizen Party (NCP) rally that left five people dead and several others injured.
