In connection with the Cumilla rape case involving a Hindu woman and the subsequent circulation of the assault video in Muradnagar, another suspect named Shah Poran has been arrested. Paran is the younger brother of Fazr Ali, the prime accused in the rape case.

Mahmudul Hasan, an officer of RAB-11 (CPC-2), stated, “Shah Poran was the mastermind behind spreading the video on social media.”

He was arrested during an operation in Burichong upazila on Thursday afternoon after remaining in hiding since the incident.

Muradnagar Police Station OC Zahidur Rahman confirmed, “Police investigations revealed Shah Poran’s involvement in circulating the video. RAB has informed us of his arrest, and the handover process is underway.”

The case involves the filming and viral distribution of a video showing the assault on a partially clothed woman, sparking widespread outrage.

The victim filed a rape case, leading to the arrests of six individuals, including Fazr Ali and Shah Poran. According to case details, the woman had visited her parents’ home two weeks earlier.

At around 11pm, after her parents stepped out, Fazr Ali allegedly entered the house and raped her.

A Cumilla District Police press release later stated that Fazr Ali was initially detained and beaten by locals over rape allegations involving an expatriate’s wife in Muradnagar.

He later escaped, but individuals recorded the victim’s video and circulated it online. Police eventually intervened and took legal action.
