Cox’s Bazar Airport is set to welcome international flights by mid-October this year as related development works are nearing completion.
Sk Bashir Uddin, adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, shared that 80 percent of the new terminal building is now finished.
He provided this update to journalists while inspecting development works at the airport.
During the visit, Uddin met with airport authorities and project officials before touring the under-construction international terminal. He reviewed the progress and discussed the project with engineers and staff.
Uddin also adviser to the Ministry of Commerce, also mentioned that international flights would initially operate using a single aircraft, with the number of flights gradually increasing.
Furthermore, efforts are underway to keep ticket prices affordable, he said while emphasising the need to facilitate accessible air travel.
Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq, chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh; Begum Nasreen Jahan, secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism; Mohammad Salahuddin, deputy commissioner of Cox’s Bazar; and other officials were present at the event.
