The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has revised the fees for Covid-19 testing at private hospitals across Bangladesh.

According to a new directive, private hospitals can now charge a maximum of Tk 500 for the Rapid Antigen Test and Tk 2,000 for the RT-PCR Test. Previously, the RT-PCR test cost Tk 3,000 at private facilities.

The updated pricing was announced in a notice signed by Professor Dr. Md Halimur Rashid, line director of Communicable Disease Control at DGHS, on July 2.

The decision was made following a meeting of the Committee on Covid-19 Diagnosis and Laboratory Management held on July 1, where members unanimously agreed to reduce the fees at private healthcare institutions.

The notice also emphasised that no additional charges beyond the fixed rates will be permitted under any circumstances.
