In the last 24 hours, Bangladesh has detected 10 new COVID-19 cases out of 107 tests conducted. No deaths were reported during this period, according to the regular press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.
With these new cases, the country’s total confirmed infections now stand at 2,051,770.
All 10 new cases were reported from the Dhaka metropolitan area.
During the same 24-hour period, two patients recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,019,380.
The overall detection rate since the beginning of the pandemic remains at 13.05%, while the daily positivity rate was recorded at 9.35%.
Bangladesh reported its first three COVID-19 cases on March 8, 2020, followed by the first death on March 18 of the same year. To date, the country has recorded 29,500 coronavirus-related deaths.
The most recent COVID-19 death was reported on June 4 this year in the capital. The DGHS confirmed the deceased was a male patient undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka.
