A court has ordered the seizure of a flat in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa and another flat in the Al Wasl building, owned by Zisan Mirza, the wife of former inspector general of police Benazir Ahmed, during the Awami League government’s tenure.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order on Monday following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC Deputy Director Zainul Abedin filed the plea to seize and freeze the properties.

According to the ACC, the Burj Khalifa flat is worth 5.5 million dirhams (over Tk 18 crore) while the other flat is valued at 4,979,854 dirhams (over Tk 16 crore). Additionally, two bank accounts under Zisan Mirza’s name have been frozen, containing 160,881 dirhams (over Tk 53 lakhs).

Earlier, the court had ordered the seizure of numerous assets belonging to Benazir’s family in four separate ACC cases. While authorities have confiscated domestic properties, the seizure of foreign assets remains largely limited to paperwork.
