The National Consensus Commission has postponed its afternoon session after expressing condolences and offering prayers in response to the crash of a training aircraft in Uttara.
On Monday morning, a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed on the campus of Milestone College in Uttara. In light of the incident, at around 3:15pm, Vice Chair of the Consensus Commission Professor Dr Ali Riaz announced the suspension of the session.
He expressed sympathy to the families of the victims and called on everyone to stand by the injured. A minute of silence was observed, and special prayers were offered in memory of the deceased and injured.
BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed urged all political parties to come together in support.
He said, “The plane crash in Uttara is a heartbreaking incident. We pray for the souls of the martyrs. Our hope is that such incidents do not recur. I call upon all political parties to extend their cooperation.”
Earlier today, a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into a building on the campus of Milestone College in the Diabari area of Uttara. Numerous casualties have been reported so far. Rescue efforts are being actively carried out by personnel from the Bangladesh Air Force and the Fire Service.
Representatives from 28 political parties and two alliances, including the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, were present at today’s meeting.
