Community Bank Bangladesh PLC has launched the country’s first AI-powered alternative credit scoring system for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in partnership with PriyoShop and Insights Genie.

The groundbreaking solution, announced on 20 August 2025, aims to revolutionise access to finance for small businesses by offering a fairer and more inclusive way to assess creditworthiness.

The innovative model integrates PriyoShop’s retailer data, Insights Genie’s advanced AI engine, and Community Bank’s financial expertise to provide real-time credit evaluations, according to a press release.

By incorporating demographic data, purchase history, psychometric insights, and user behavior analytics, the system offers a more comprehensive and accurate approach to credit scoring, making it easier for small enterprises to access financing without the need for traditional collateral or documentation.

Bangladesh is home to over 5 million retailers, many of whom face barriers to accessing formal credit due to the lack of traditional documentation.

The new AI-powered model allows thousands of small shopkeepers to access short-term credit facilities, ranging from one to three months, through a streamlined eKYC process.

This will enable eligible retailers to secure financing, helping them expand inventory, increase turnover, and improve their business operations.

Kimiwa Saddat, managing director (Current Charge) of Community Bank Bangladesh PLC, highlighted the significance of the initiative, saying, “We are proud to lead this innovation in partnership with PriyoShop and Insights Genie. MSMEs are vital to the economy, and by equipping them with smarter financial tools, we are empowering them to grow and contribute to national development.”

The launch of this system is part of Community Bank’s broader vision to promote inclusive growth by integrating advanced technology with traditional banking. By combining AI with financial expertise, the initiative is setting a new standard for innovation in Bangladesh’s financial sector.

The agreement was formalized in the presence of key stakeholders, including Asikul Alam Khan, Founder & CEO of PriyoShop, Vincent Choy, Founder of Insights Genie, and Kimiwa Saddat, Managing Director (Current Charge) of Community Bank. Senior officials from both PriyoShop and Insights Genie were also present at the ceremony.

This partnership reinforces Community Bank’s commitment to transforming MSME financing in Bangladesh, driving digital innovation, and fostering greater financial inclusion for the country’s entrepreneurs. The collaboration between Community Bank, PriyoShop, and Insights Genie marks a significant step towards building a smarter, more accessible financial ecosystem for MSMEs in Bangladesh.
