A cocktail explosion occurred Monday night in front of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) office, leaving three of its leaders injured. This marks the second such incident in as many days, with a similar explosion having taken place just a day earlier outside the same office.
According to Ariful Islam Adib, Senior Joint Convener of NCP, the attack appears to be an attempt to instill fear among the public. “Due to the increasing public interest in the NCP’s registration issue, more people have been visiting our office. This explosion was clearly intended to create panic and terror among the general public,” he said.
The injured individuals have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Law enforcement authorities have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to identify those responsible for the attack.
Security around the NCP office has been heightened in the wake of the incident.
It has been confirmed that Asif Uddin Samrat, a leader of NCP’s Dhaka Metropolitan unit, Abdur Rob, an organizer of the youth wing, and Shafiqul Islam from the labour wing were injured in the cocktail explosion incident.
