The closing workshop of agricultural research projects funded by Dutch-Bangla Bank’s special CSR grant was held on June 28, 2025, at a local hotel in Dhaka, marking the culmination of a two-year research initiative conducted under the guidance of Bangladesh Bank.

Abul Kashem Md. Shirin, Managing Director and CEO of Dutch-Bangla Bank, inaugurated the workshop and presided over the opening session, says a press release.

In his remarks, he emphasised the bank’s continued commitment to sustainable development through agricultural innovation.

“With the support of Dutch-Bangla Bank, research projects have been successfully implemented across various regions of the country in sectors such as crop cultivation, fisheries, poultry, irrigation, and food processing and storage,” said Mr. Shirin.

He expressed hope that while the scheduled phases of the projects have concluded, the research momentum will continue through the dedication of partner institutions and researchers.

Mr. Shirin extended his gratitude to the expert committee members, collaborators, and everyone involved in making the programme a success.

Professor Dr. Md. Manjurul Alam, Chairman of the Special CSR Committee of Dutch-Bangla Bank, delivered a keynote presentation summarising the outcomes and achievements of the research efforts.

Between 2023 and 2025, a total of seven innovation-driven agricultural projects were implemented at the grassroots level using CSR funds from Dutch-Bangla Bank.

A large number of experts, scientists, educators, entrepreneurs, and officials from key agricultural institutions participated in the event.

The technical session, co-chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Manjurul Alam and Professor Imdadul Haque Chowdhury, featured presentations on the outcomes of all seven research projects.

The session concluded with an open floor where attending scholars and stakeholders offered their feedback and suggestions, contributing to a rich exchange of ideas and insights on how to take the research forward for real-world application.
