Citizens Bank has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank to provide loans at concessional interest rates to agricultural entrepreneurs and rural-based enterprises under the central bank’s refinancing scheme.
The agreement was signed on Sunday at Citizens Bank’s head office in Dhaka by the bank’s Managing Director Alamgir Hossain and Bangladesh Bank Agricultural Credit Department-2 Director A.K.M. Sayduzzaman, said a press release on Tuesday.
Deputy Managing Director Abdul Latif, Senior Vice President Bijoy Chandra Das, and Bangladesh Bank Additional Director Rafia Sultana attended the signing ceremony along with other officials from both institutions.
The initiative will enable agricultural entrepreneurs to expand their businesses, enhance production capacity and create new employment opportunities in rural areas. The facility is expected to contribute to sustainable growth of the agricultural sector by improving access to finance and supporting rural economic activities.
