Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao arrived in Dhaka on Saturday for a two-day visit aimed at expanding trade and investment opportunities between Bangladesh and China, while elevating their “Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership” to new heights.
Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin will host a dinner in honor of the visiting minister and hold bilateral talks with him later today.
During his stay, Minister Wang is scheduled to meet Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday, alongside other engagements, a senior official told UNB.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will inaugurate the Bangladesh-China Investment and Trade Conference in Dhaka on Sunday, where business leaders from both nations will explore trade and investment prospects. Chinese Minister Wang will attend as the special guest.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen stated, “This conference will serve as a platform for business communities to explore cooperation opportunities and foster more fruitful outcomes in economic and trade relations.”
Minister Wang is leading a 100-company delegation, described by Ambassador Yao as “the largest business delegation ever to visit Bangladesh.”
Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder confirmed that around 250 investors and business representatives from these companies will participate in the conference. Top executives from four major Chinese chambers of commerce will also attend.
The event is being jointly organised by the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
Ambassador Yao emphasised that the visit sends a “strong signal of openness, cooperation, and mutual benefit” between the two nations.
The conference is expected to pave the way for deeper economic collaboration, further strengthening Bangladesh-China relations.
