China’s household goods maker Baishili to invest $10.47m into BEPZA EZ

Chinese investor Baishili Household Products Bangladesh Co will set up a household goods and bag manufacturing plant in the BEPZA Economic Zone at Mirsharai, Chattogram, with an investment of $10.47 million.

An agreement was signed today at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka between BEPZA Member (Investment Promotion) Md Ashraful Kabir and Baishili Chairman Sun Rundong, witnessed by BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman.

The plant will produce 21.41mn pieces of household storage, decoration and related products, along with bags, each year, creating 989 jobs for Bangladeshi nationals.

Ziaur Rahman urged the company to fast-track construction and ensure maximum land use, while integrating rooftop solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems to meet environmental goals.

Senior BEPZA officials, including Member (Engineering) Md Imtiaz Hossain, Member (Finance) A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Md Khorshid Alam, Project Director Mohammad Anamul Haque and Executive Director (Public Relations) A S M Anwar Parvez, were present along with company representatives.
