China, Bangladesh firms explore ceramic sector collaboration

China willing to invest more in Bangladesh.

Leading ceramic companies and technology experts from China have shown strong interest in exploring investment opportunities in Bangladesh’s rapidly growing ceramic industry. This discussion took place at the Asian Ceramics Technology 50 Forum – Dhaka, held on 19 July 2025 at Hotel Amari Dhaka. The event was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Ceramic Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BCMEA) and Foshan Uniceramics Expo.

The forum, which was themed “Product Quality & Production Efficiency Enhancement and Investment Opportunities in Bangladesh – Win-Win Cooperation,” brought together key figures from the ceramic manufacturing sectors in both China and Bangladesh. The event served as a platform for cross-border collaboration, with both sides expressing interest in sharing technological know-how and enhancing industry practices.

In his welcome address, Irfan Uddin, General Secretary of BCMEA, emphasized the significance of such events in fostering stronger ties between Bangladesh and China. “China’s technological advancements and global leadership in ceramics have long inspired us,” Uddin said, stressing the importance of knowledge exchange for sectoral growth.

BCMEA Acting President Md. Mamunur Rashid FCMA, in his keynote speech, discussed the significant investment opportunities available in Bangladesh’s ceramic sector. He noted that the government is offering substantial incentives for foreign investors, which align with the country’s shifting socio-economic landscape.

The event featured three technical sessions that focused on enhancing product quality, improving production efficiency, and exploring investment opportunities in Bangladesh. Experts from both nations shared innovative solutions and practical insights into ceramic production, equipment management, and cost reduction strategies.

Li Xinliang, President of Ceramic Town Weekly and General Manager of Foshan Uniceramics Development Co. Ltd, along with Luo Fei, an equipment technology expert, represented China’s expertise in the sector. The forum also featured contributions from leaders of prominent Bangladeshi companies like Akij Ceramics, DBL Ceramics, Meghna Ceramic Industries, and LankaBangla Investments.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Abdul Hakim Sumon, Senior Vice President of BCMEA, further reinforcing the commitment of both sides to fostering a collaborative and prosperous future for the ceramic industry in Bangladesh.
