The Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) has conducted an enforcement drive against buildings constructed in violation of approved designs in Chattogram city, taking action against six structures across the Khulshi and Chandgaon police station areas.
During the drive, officials demolished portions of four buildings and sealed off two. In addition, affidavits were collected from building owners, while warnings were issued to two other establishments, including the commercial enterprise “Basket”.

The drive was led by CDA Special Magistrate (Joint District and Sessions Judge) Hamimun Tanjin and Authorised Officer-1 Kazi Kader Newaz, with relevant officers and staff of the authority present. During the operation, various portions of buildings constructed in deviation from approved plans were partially removed.
The authority collected affidavits from the respective building owners and instructed them to conduct construction work strictly in compliance with approved layouts and applicable regulations.

Commenting on the drive, CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain said that building construction in violation of approved designs poses a serious concern for the city’s planned development and safety. He emphasised that building owners must carry out construction work following CDA-approved plans and relevant rules.

He added that legal action against plan deviations and construction irregularities will continue to ensure planned urban development, urging building owners to play a responsible role.
The CDA affirmed that such drives will remain ongoing to build the Chattogram metropolis into a planned, safe, and liveable city, as well as to ensure the proper implementation of building construction regulations.
