A post seeking financial assistance for the victims of the Bangladesh Air Force plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara was removed from the verified Facebook page of the Chief Adviser following public criticism.

The post, which was made around 2 PM today (Tuesday), urged people to contribute to the Chief Adviser’s Relief and Welfare Fund to support those affected by the crash. It read:

“For those wishing to financially support the victims of the training aircraft crash at Milestone School and College, contributions can be sent to the following account: Account Name – Chief Adviser’s Relief and Welfare Fund, Current Account No. 010733004093, Sonali Bank Ltd., Chief Adviser’s Office Corporate Branch.”

The same message was also shared in the WhatsApp group of the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing by Senior Assistant Press Secretary Fayez Ahmed.

However, shortly after it was posted, criticism began to spread on social media. One Facebook user, Khadijatul Kobra, wrote: “Now I finally understand why people couldn’t accept it when the government refused to collect money during floods. Our Chief Adviser is now asking for donations for children’s treatment! MashaAllah! Alhamdulillah! I honestly have nothing more to say.”

“Just a day has passed and the government already resorted to crowdfunding? Whose brilliant idea was this?” it reads.

Following the backlash, the post was removed from the Chief Adviser’s verified Facebook page later in the afternoon. However, it still remains in the official WhatsApp group.

The reason for removing the post has not been disclosed.
