Gono Songhoti Andolon’s Chief Coordinator Zonayed Saki has stated that propagating the idea that elections are India’s agenda is dangerous. He said, “We need justice, reforms, and elections for our own needs.”
Zonayed Saki made these remarks while delivering a speech at an event held at the National Press Club in the capital on Sunday morning. The memorial meeting was organised on the eighth death anniversary of Gono Songhoti Andolon’s first executive coordinator, Advocate Abdus Salam.
“If some Indian media or political figures demand elections in Bangladesh, and if people here assume that election demands are being made at India’s behest—such propaganda is extremely dangerous,” he said.
Zonayed Saki stated that national unity has emerged against the fascist suppression carried out by the Sheikh Hasina government under Indian patronage. By claiming that elections are India’s agenda, attempts are being made to fracture public unity and serve India’s purpose.
Such propaganda will only help rehabilitate fascists, he added.
