Bus services on the Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi route remained suspended for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, causing immense suffering to hundreds of daily commuters.
The disruption began after a Chapainawabganj bus driver was allegedly assaulted by transport workers from Rajshahi on Saturday.
In retaliation, a Rajshahi-bound bus was vandalised in Chapainawabganj, escalating tensions between the two sides.
With no buses in operation, passengers were forced to rely on CNG-run autorickshaws and other small vehicles, often at inflated fares.
Chapainawabganj transport leader Anarul Islam said discussions are ongoing to resolve the standoff.
A meeting between transport owners and workers from both districts is scheduled to be held at 11 am today at the Rajshahi Bus Owners Association office.
