Dighinala Divya Raj Kanan Buddhist Monastery in Khagrachhari organized reception and event marking the auspicious Kathin Chivara Dan and Maha Sthavira Baran on Wednesday morning.

Buddhist devotees from nook and corners of Dighinala gathered in large groups at the monastery to offer prayers for the welfare and happiness of all living beings on mother earth. After reciting the Five Precepts, the devotees made various offerings, including the chivara (monastic robes), Buddha statues, offerings to the Sangha, eight-point offerings, and the donation of symbolic trees, along with pind dana (food offerings) to the Buddhist monks.

In addition to the Kathin Chivara Dan, a significant part of the event was the formal reception of Dhammānanda Sthavira as the Maha Sthavira. Buddhist monks and lay devotees present at the event honored Dhammānanda Sthavira with the prestigious title of Maha Sthavira. This title is conferred upon monks who have spent 20 years in monastic life and have completed 20 rainy seasons (Vassa).

Following this, the Buddhist monks delivered religious discourses for the devotees, explaining the significance of Buddhist rituals and teachings. The discourses were presented by Bhikkhu Shuddhananda Maha Sthavira, the head of Kabakhali Maitri Buddhist Monastery, Sumedhalankara Maha Sthavira, the abbot of Divya Raj Kanan Buddhist Monastery, and Moni Pal Maha Sthavira from Binand Chug Bhavana Kuthir.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers for world peace and the well-being of all living beings.
