BSF returns trafficked Bangladeshi boy to BGB

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has returned a Bangladeshi boy to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) after he was allegedly trafficked into India. 

The handover took place during a Border Outpost (BOP) commander-level flag meeting near border pillar number 61/1S in Moheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a press release issued by Assistant Director Munshi Imdadur Rahman of BGB 58 Battalion, the boy—identified as Debdas, son of Pankaj Kanti Das and Mampi Das of Charlatia village under Hatiya municipality in Noakhali. 

BSF personnel found the boy in Indian territory and informed their BGB counterparts, requesting a formal handover.

Following the flag meeting, the boy was returned to BGB and later handed over to Justice and Care, a non-governmental organization in Jashore that works on rehabilitation of trafficked and distressed individuals.

He is expected to be reunited with his family within a few days.
