Ten Bangla speaking Indian citizens, including women, were pushed into Bangladesh by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Dhamaighat border in Naogaon. On the morning of Thursday, July 31, they were pushed across the border at pillar 256/7-S in the Agradwigan border area. The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained them as they crossed into the country.
The detained individuals are identified as Kakoli Akter, 27, Rujina Akter, 33, Ashma Begum, 40, Khadija Begum, 34, Pakhi Begum, 24, Nasreen Begum, 33, Ruma Begum, 25, Kohinur Begum, 26, Manzurul Islam, 36, and Suman Hossain, 27.
According to BGB sources, the detained persons are believed to be Bangladeshi nationals. A patrol team led by Subedar Jihad Ali, from the Agradwigan BOP, noticed the group moving at least one kilometer inside Bangladesh, near Maheshpur, and detained them. After initial questioning, it was revealed that the group had traveled to India at different times, with two male masons and eight women working in households in Bombay. Later, they were arrested by Indian police (CID) and handed over to the BSF at Haribanshipur Camp on July 29.
Legal proceedings are underway, and the detainees are set to be handed over to the Dhamaighat Police Station for further legal action.
