The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed 70 Bangladeshi nationals into the country through various border points in Sylhet and Sunamganj. The push-in occurred during the late hours of Wednesday (June 11) and the early morning of Thursday (June 12).
According to reports, 17 people were pushed in through the Sripur BOP in Jaintiapur, 23 through the Minatila BOP, 13 through the Kalairag BOP in Companiganj, and another 17 through the Noakot border point in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj.
Home Adviser Jahagir Alam Chowdhury has strongly condemned the recent incidents of illegal pushback of people from India, stating that individuals are being forced across the border through improper channels and in inhumane conditions.
Speaking at an event in Gazipur on Tuesday, the adviser said, “Those being pushed in from India are not entering through proper legal processes. They are being forcefully sent back in a manner that violates human rights and international norms.”
Among the 70 individuals, there are 22 men, 18 women, and 30 children.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel at Sripur BOP detained 17 individuals from two families—comprising four men, four women, and nine children. Seven of them are from Kurigram, while 10 are from Lalmonirhat.
At Minatila BOP, 23 people from four families were detained. These included nine men, seven women, and seven children—all residents of Kurigram district.
