The Indian Border Security Force has handed over six Bangladeshi nationals who were detained while attempting to illegally cross the border into India.
The handover took place on Saturday afternoon at a flag meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and BSF near the zero line along the Jhenaidah border.
According to a press release signed by Assistant Director Mohammad Saiful Islam of the 58 BGB Battalion in Maheshpur, the Indian 194 BSF Battalion’s Ramnagar camp contacted BGB’s Khoshalpur Border Outpost (BOP) around 12:50 pm, informing them of the arrest.
The six individuals included four men, one woman, and one child, who had allegedly crossed into Indian territory near the Baghadanga border. The BSF provided BGB with detailed information including the names, addresses, and contact numbers of the detained individuals and formally requested their repatriation.
After verifying their identities, BGB arranged a flag meeting at 4:45 pm near border pillars 60/85, where the BSF formally handed over the detained persons to the BGB. The meeting was attended by the company commander of the Khoshalpur BOP on behalf of the BGB.
Following their return, the six individuals were subjected to preliminary questioning. BGB officials stated that the process to transfer them to Maheshpur Police Station is currently underway.
