The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over eight Bangladeshis to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at the Taluigacha border in Satkhira through a flag meeting.

Naib Subedar Mohammad Abul Kashem of the Taluigacha BGB camp filed a general diary regarding the matter at the local police station.

The handover took place on Thursday evening at the zero point of the Taluigacha border in Satkhira Sadar upazila, where members of the Amudia camp of the BSF handed over the Bangladeshis to the BGB. They were sent to Satkhira Sadar Police Station later that night.

According to Officer-in-Charge Shaminul Haq, the detainees will be released to their relatives on Friday after verification of their identities.

The BGB said the eight individuals were detained by BSF members around 10 pm on Wednesday while crossing Hakimpur checkpost in India. The handover was arranged through a flag meeting the following evening, facilitated by Inspector Bikash Kumar of the BSF’s Amudia Company and Commander Abul Kashem of the Taluigacha BGB.

The Bangladeshis handed over by BSF are: Mohammad Harun Biswas (30), Zeba Sabiha Binte Karim (22), Jannat Begum (35) Nipa Khatun (39), Mohammad Ikramul Biswas (24) Mosammat Rahima Khatun (24) Paikpara Rupa Rani (28), Anadi Ranjan Paramanik (42).

Earlier, on 15th September, the BSF had handed over 15 Bangladeshis at the same border through a flag meeting.
