The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over 15 Bangladeshi nationals, who were detained in West Bengal, to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at the zero point of the Talui Gacha border in Satkhira on Monday evening.

The handover took place around 6pm during a flag meeting between the two forces along the India-Bangladesh border. Later that night, the BGB transferred the group to Satkhira Sadar Police Station.

The group includes Md Sharin Sana, his wife Nilufa, and daughter Shahina Sultana; Suraiya Yasmin and Rabia Begum; Jahangir Alam, Lipika Khatun, Nazma Khatun, and Jim Torfadar; Farhana Akter and her son Farhan Dhali; Semina Khatun; Rabia Khatun and Riyad Hasan; and Fulmati Khatun, from various villages across Shyamnagar, Ashashuni, and Satkhira Sadar Upazilas.

Satkhira Sadar Police Officer-in-Charge Md Shaminul Haque confirmed that the Bangladeshis were detained by the BSF at Hakimpur border in India. The handover was coordinated under the leadership of Amudia Company Commander Bikas Kumar (BSF) and Talui Gacha Company Commander Abul Kashem (BGB).

The OC added that after verifying their identities, the individuals are expected to be reunited with their relatives on Tuesday.
