The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) held its inaugural meeting of the Nomination Committee for the Shariah Advisory Council on 20 July 2025 at the BSEC headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka.

The meeting was chaired by BSEC Chairman Khondokar Rashed Maqsood focused on defining the Shariah Advisory Council’s role in the development of Bangladesh’s Islamic capital market.

He further emphasized the significance of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (Shariah Advisory Council) Rules, 2022, in creating new investment opportunities.

The Shariah Advisory Council is expected to play a crucial role in the issuance of Shariah-compliant securities, with the potential to attract both local and foreign investors to Bangladesh’s capital markets.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to strengthening the Islamic finance sector and expanding investment opportunities in the country.
