A body was recovered by the police from the third floor of a house in Merul Badda, Dhaka.

The deceased was identified as Asaduzzaman Durbo, 25, a student of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at BRAC University.

He was found unconscious around 11:45pm on Monday and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors later declared him dead.

Asaduzzaman Durbo was originally from Kazibari Mosque Lane No 1 under the jurisdiction of Kaunia Police Station in Barishal. In Dhaka, he had been renting a room in a house belonging to Shamsuzzaman Dudumiya in Merul Badda.

Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector (SI) Rashed Mia of Badda Police Station said they went to the location after receiving information in the afternoon. There, they found Asaduzzaman hanging from a ceiling fan with a gamcha (a traditional washing cloth, usually used as a towel) in one of the rooms.

Police later brought him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors confirmed he was already dead.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

According to police, Asaduzzaman shared the flat with another individual. One person stayed in the drawing room while Asaduzzaman used a separate room.

The other occupant was sleeping in the drawing room and later discovered the body, after which law enforcement was notified, added Sub-Inspector Rashed Mia.

His father, Shamsuzzaman Babu, is an engineer, and his mother is a schoolteacher. Police said the reason behind the incident was not immediately known.
