BRAC Bank appoints Tareq Refat Ullah Khan as MD, CEO

BRAC Bank has appointed Tareq Refat Ullah Khan as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 2 September 2025, according to a press release from the bank.

Khan had been serving as the MD and CEO in current charge since 27 May 2025. Prior to this, he was promoted to Additional Managing Director and Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking in April 2025, following his successful leadership in innovation, business expansion, and organisational transformation.

Meheriar M Hasan, Chairperson of BRAC Bank, said: “Tareq is the right leader to take BRAC Bank into its next phase. His vision, integrity, and leadership will make the bank more trusted, innovative, and inclusive – positively impacting customers, the banking industry, society, and the state.”

A seasoned banking leader, Khan joined BRAC Bank in 2017 as Head of Credit Risk Management. With nearly three decades of experience, he has held key leadership roles at Eastern Bank, AB Bank, and IFIC Bank. His career has been recognised for his contributions to Corporate and Institutional Banking, Transaction Banking, and Risk Management.

Khan holds a B. Com from the University of Chittagong, an M. Com in Marketing from the University of Dhaka, an MBA, and has received international training in leadership and corporate governance. He is also a proud alumnus of Cornell University, USA, having completed its prestigious Senior Executive Leadership Program.

Under his leadership, BRAC Bank aims to enhance its growth and innovation, solidifying its position as a trusted and progressive financial institution in Bangladesh.
