BNP leader hacked to death in Khulna

A local leader of the BNP’s youth wing, Jubo Dal, was brutally killed in Dumuria upazila of Khulna on Friday night.

The victim, Md Shamim, was attacked with sharp weapons by unidentified assailants at his rented home near Syed Isa College. Family members found his body early Saturday morning and informed the matter to police. According to police, Shamim was struck on the back of the neck with a sharp weapon.

Shamim, son of Abdul Gaffar Sheikh from Uthuli village of Islamkathi Union in Tala upazila, was a former union parishad member and served as joint convener of the Islamkathi Union unit Jubo Dal. He had been living in the Dumuria area for long time and ran a pesticide business.

Saidur Rahman Sayeed, senior joint convener of Tala upazila Jubo Dal, described the killing as a premeditated murder and urged law enforcement agencies to swiftly identify and apprehend those responsible.

Masud Rana, officer-in-charge of Dumuria Police Station, said that the body was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy. He added that additional police have been deployed in the area and an investigation is currently underway.
