BNP has reported an annual income of Tk22.19 crore and expenditure of Tk15. 26 crore, leaving a surplus of Tk6.93 crore. The party’s opening balance stood at Tk21.13 crore.
According to the statement, BNP currently holds Tk28.4 crore in bank deposits and Tk2.79 lakh in cash, totaling Tk28.7 crore.
A BNP delegation submitted the annual report to Election Commission (EC) Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed at the commission headquarters in Agargaon on Sunday afternoon.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “Our goal is to ensure accountability to the people in the democratic process. We submitted this account to maintain transparency. Citizens should be informed about the sources of income and expenditure of political parties elected by their votes.”
BNP Treasurer M Rashiduzzaman Millat explained that income was generated from membership fees, donations from well‑wishers, and the sale of party nomination forms.
Expenditure covered organisational activities, political programmes, vehicle purchases, publication of leaflets and posters, office maintenance, staff salaries, and assistance to needy party leaders and activists.
Under the Representation of the People Order (RPO), registered political parties must submit audited financial reports to the EC by 31 July each year for the previous calendar year.
Failure to comply for three consecutive years may result in cancellation of party registration.
