In 2016, one of the most iconic Blackberry phones (Blackberry Classic/Q20) came to an end in the line of production. Released in 2014, this phone became one of the most hyped phones of all time. The small form factor was technically a smartphone with a full-sized QWERTY keypad. The keypad also worked as a trackpad and a mouse, making usability more efficient than other QWERTY phones. The phone would give that business person a strike among the slabs of glass present amongst others.
Blackberry fans were devastated upon hearing that the operating system (BBOS 10) would not update further. Lo and behold! The iconic phone is coming back to life again with a new twist.
Meet the company Zinwa Technologies, a Chinese startup company who are working on bringing back old Blackberry phones with a modern twist. They have released the Zinwa Q25 which is nothing more than the iconic Classic with a modern software and hardware twist.
The body of the phone is the same Blackberry Classic with the same fun factor but it will run on Android 13 out of the box. It is still unclear whether there will be updates. The chipset will be upgraded to MTK G99 with 12GB RAM and 256GB ROM. As per the CEO, the phone is currently running 4G and has the ability to support cellular networks worldwide.
The company is selling the device for $400. If they are successful with the Q25, they are planning to do the same with the Passport and KeyOne.
