Amid escalating tensions in the Iran-Israel war, diplomatic staff at the Bangladeshi embassy in Tehran are expected to be moved to a safer location soon due to security concerns. A diplomatic source confirmed the mission is coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the relocation.

The embassy’s current location is considered unsafe as it lies within one kilometer of sensitive infrastructure, including Tehran University’s first nuclear research center, which has faced recent attack attempts. Additionally, one of Tehran’s two main internet communication hubs is dangerously close to the chancery, raising fears that embassy personnel could become collateral damage in potential strikes.

In response to the crisis, the Bangladeshi embassy in Tehran and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka have established emergency hotlines for Bangladeshi citizens in Iran and their families back home. The documented Bangladeshi population in Iran numbers less than 2,000.

Emergency Contact Numbers: Bangladesh Embassy, Tehran: +98 990 857 7368, +98 912 206 5745 / Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka: +880 1712 012847

The government has condemned recent Israeli strikes on Iran as a threat to global peace, while prioritizing the safety of its diplomatic staff and citizens in the conflict zone.
