In the Women’s Challenge Cup organised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Bangladesh Women Red suffered a heavy defeat against Bangladesh U15 Boys. The women’s side was bowled out for only 49 runs.
They had lost to the same opposition earlier. This time, the defeat was even more humiliating.
The innings started with some hope. Bangladesh Women Red reached 31 for 1 in 7.2 overs. But what followed was a collapse that shocked everyone.
The team lost nine wickets for only 18 runs. The batting order crumbled under pressure. National team captain Nigar Sultana Joty struggled and made just 1 from 14 balls.
Sharmin Sultana was the only batter to reach double figures. She scored 18 from 22 deliveries.
For the boys, Alimul Islam Adib and Sulaiman Islam picked up three wickets each. Amit Kumar claimed two, while Mahin Hossain Alif took one.
Chasing after a rain break, the U15 Boys faced no trouble. The openers added 44 runs together. They crossed the target with ease, finishing on 51 for 2 in 11.2 overs.
Opener Abdur Rahman Irfan stayed unbeaten on 29 from 35 balls. His partner Kheyal Roy Omm scored 16 before getting out.
It was a one-sided contest. The boys dominated both with bat and ball, leaving the Women Red searching for answers.
