Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Şen called on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood, at the latter’s office in Secretariat on Wednesday to discuss enhancing bilateral energy cooperation and investment.
During the courtesy meeting, the ambassador was accompanied by Bilal Belyurt, commercial counsellor at Embassy of Türkiye, and Harun Ortaç, chief executive officer of United Aygaz LPG Ltd.
Turkish delegation congratulated the minister on assuming charge of the ministry and conveyed continued goodwill of Turkish government toward Bangladesh. Ambassador Şen briefed the minister on current status of bilateral relations and outlined Turkish investment and trade plans in the country.
Minister Mahmood welcomed the prospect of continued Turkish investment and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding participation in energy sector, including Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) supply.
He underscored the significance of government-to-government (G2G) cooperation in narrowing trade gap between the two nations, noting their shared religious affinity.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with growing economic and energy cooperation and explored further avenues to bolster bilateral ties in the sector.
Ambassador Şen extended an invitation to the minister to visit Türkiye to further enhance bilateral relations. The minister expressed his desire to undertake the visit at the earliest convenience.
