Bangladesh is set to establish a National Esports Association under the National Sports Council, signalling the government’s firm commitment to developing the fast-growing sector.
The move follows the official recognition of esports on 13 July, a landmark decision that placed competitive gaming alongside traditional sports in the country. Since then, the government has accelerated efforts to build a proper structure and expand opportunities for players and stakeholders.
As part of that process, Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan attended a consultation meeting on Tuesday with representatives of the esports community. The session focused on drafting policies, forming an association and setting out a roadmap for long-term growth.
Officials confirmed that this was not a one-off discussion. The Ministry of Youth and Sports will continue to host similar consultations on a regular basis, bringing in all relevant stakeholders step by step. The aim is to ensure that the new association is built on inclusivity, clear regulation and a shared vision for the future of esports in Bangladesh.
The creation of a national association is expected to open doors for greater participation in international competitions, improved training opportunities and recognition for professional gamers. It also marks a shift in how the country views esports, treating it not just as entertainment but as a serious sporting discipline with economic and cultural impact.
With formal structures now in motion, Bangladesh appears ready to embrace esports as a vital part of its sporting future.
