Defending champions Bangladesh will be aiming to continue their dominant run in the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship 2025 as they face Sri Lanka for the second time tomorrow (Saturday) at the Bashundhara Sports Ground in the capital. The match kicks off at 7:00 PM, following the day’s earlier fixture between Nepal and Bhutan at 3:00 PM at the same venue.

Bangladesh, the overwhelming favourites in the four-nation tournament, currently sit comfortably atop the league table with 12 points from four consecutive wins. Sri Lanka, by contrast, are yet to register a point, having lost all four of their matches so far.

The two sides previously met in the opening round, where Bangladesh handed Sri Lanka a thumping 9–1 defeat. Since then, Bangladesh have continued their impressive form, edging Nepal 3–2, defeating Bhutan 4–1, and then blanking them 3–0 in the return fixture.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, have struggled throughout the tournament, suffering heavy losses including 5–0 to Bhutan and back-to-back 7–0 defeats to Nepal.

Bangladesh will wrap up their campaign against Nepal on July 21. With only four teams — Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka — contesting this sixth edition of the tournament, the title will go to the team that finishes top of the table following the double round-robin format.

Bangladesh Squad:

Swarna Rani Mandal, Nabiran Khatun, Mst Joynob Bibi Rita, Afeida Khandaker (captain), Mst Surma Jannat, Kanon Rani Bahadur, Sapna Rani, Mst Oeyshi Khatun, Sree Moti Trishna Rani, Mst Sagorika, Umehla Marma, Ayonto Bala Mahato, Rupa Akter, Mst Bonna Khatun, Most Munki Akhter, Kanom Akter, Mst Ruma Akter, Puja Das, Sinha Jahan Shikha, Shanti Mardi, Nadia Akter Juti, Mile Akter, and Mst Fardosi Akter Shonale.

With confidence soaring and a home crowd behind them, Bangladesh will look to secure another convincing win and move one step closer to retaining their title.
