Bangladesh has added another proud moment in the world of competitive programming, winning two medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2025.

Debojoti Das Soumya earned a silver medal, putting up an impressive 378.88 points, which placed him 57th globally. Wali E Zaman secured a bronze medal with 290.79 points, ranking 124th in the world. Notably, Debojoti previously won his first-ever gold medal at the IOI last year.

The IOI is the world’s most prestigious computer science competition for high school students. Over two intense days, participants faced off in algorithmic problem-solving, pushing their coding, logic, and math skills to the limit.

This year’s four-member team from Bangladesh also included Desh Acharjee and Navid Tawsif, all competing under the guidance of seasoned mentors Dr. Mohammad Sohel Rahman (Team Leader) and Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad (Deputy Leader).

Bangladesh’s steady success at the IOI proves that a tech-savvy generation is embracing computer science, coding and innovation with real enthusiasm.

With each international medal, the message gets clearer. Bangladesh’s digital future looks bright and it’s being built by its youth.
