The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the upcoming T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh has been reduced from five matches to three, with all fixtures set to take place in Lahore.
PCB official Shafqat Sabbir stated, “Yes, the series has been reduced to three T20Is and will be played in Lahore only.” He added that further details regarding scheduling and logistics will be provided in due course.
The decision follows behind-the-scenes discussions between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and PCB, with the BCB previously working to adjust both the ongoing UAE series and the upcoming Pakistan tour. Bangladesh had successfully expanded their current T20I series against the UAE from two matches to three, and had simultaneously been exploring the possibility of rescheduling or relocating the Pakistan series to minimise travel and logistical challenges.
The revision of the Pakistan series to a single-venue, three-match format is expected to ease those complications, offering more time for player recovery and preparation amid a packed international calendar. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host all three encounters, with match dates and times to be confirmed soon.
While the reduction may disappoint fans looking forward to a longer bilateral contest, the change could help both boards manage their players’ workload more efficiently. It also reflects ongoing efforts to strike a balance between competitive cricket and practical scheduling, especially during the busy lead-up to the ICC T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh and Pakistan have faced off in numerous T20I encounters in recent years, with closely contested matches offering high entertainment value. The upcoming series, albeit shortened, is still expected to provide compelling action and will serve as an important tune-up for both sides ahead of future ICC tournaments.
More information about the finalised schedule, squad announcements, and broadcast details is expected from both boards shortly.
