Entrepreneurs from Bangladesh and Pakistan have expressed optimism about expanding bilateral trade through joint ventures in promising sectors such as pharmaceuticals, surgical equipment, electronics, and intermediate industrial components.

This sentiment was shared during a networking session held on Thursday morning, 3 July 2025, at Motijheel in the capital, between visiting Pakistani business delegates and local entrepreneurs. The event was organised by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).

FBCCI Administrator Md Hafizur Rahman chaired the session, which was attended by Muhammad Wasif, Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh.

Highlighting the need for trade diversification between the two countries, Hafizur Rahman underscored the potential of motor and electronics components and intermediate machinery as areas of mutual interest. He also pointed to emerging opportunities in textiles, pharmaceuticals, and surgical products.

He affirmed that FBCCI and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) would work jointly to strengthen bilateral business relations and explore viable areas for cooperation.

Speaking at the session, Acting High Commissioner Muhammad Wasif said there is ample room to enhance trade and investment between the two South Asian neighbours. He stressed the need for continued networking initiatives to identify new commercial avenues and foster sustainable partnerships.

Business representatives from both countries echoed this enthusiasm, indicating a strong interest in expanding trade and collaborative ventures, especially in pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, electronics, textiles, and industrial components.

Among others, former FBCCI director Nasrin Fatema Awwal, FBCCI Secretary General Md Alamgir, and FBCCI International Affairs Wing Head Md Zafar Iqbal NDC also attended the session, along with several prominent business leaders.
