The Bangladesh women’s football team continued their spirited run in the tri-nation FIFA friendly series, holding hosts Jordan to a 2-2 draw in a hard-fought encounter at the King Abdullah II Stadium on Tuesday.

The match began on a challenging note for Bangladesh, currently ranked 133rd in the FIFA Rankings, as Jordan captain Maysa Jebarah struck in the 5th minute to put her side ahead. Undeterred, the visitors showed composure and determination, eventually finding the equaliser through Shamsunahar Jr. just before the half-time whistle.

Jordan, ranked 59 places above Bangladesh, regained the lead in the 58th minute when Bana Bitar slotted home to make it 2-1. But Bangladesh refused to back down, and their persistence paid off in the 83rd minute when Shaheda Akter Ripa netted the second equaliser of the night, securing a well-earned draw.

Tuesday’s result follows Bangladesh’s goalless stalemate against Indonesia — ranked 94th — in their tournament opener on Saturday at the same venue.

Head coach Peter Butler is using the tri-nation series as crucial preparation ahead of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers, set to take place from June 29 to July 5.
