Bangladesh enjoyed a much-improved session in their ongoing Test against Sri Lanka, claiming four wickets while conceding 111 runs in 25 overs. Despite this spirited fightback, the hosts remain in a commanding position with a healthy lead of 154 runs.

The turning point for Bangladesh came with the introduction of the second new ball, which paid immediate dividends. Three quick wickets fell in its wake, including the prized scalp of Pathum Nissanka, who departed after a masterful innings of 158.

Taijul Islam led the bowling effort, claiming crucial breakthroughs. However, Sri Lanka’s batters continued to score freely, somewhat blunting the impact of Bangladesh’s gains. Nahid Rana impressed with a fiery spell full of intent and aggression but was left with just a solitary wicket to show for his efforts. Meanwhile, Nayeem Hasan removed the in-form Kamindu Mendis, offering the visitors a timely boost.

Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the Sri Lankan batters never allowed the Bangladesh bowlers to settle into a consistent rhythm, maintaining a steady scoring rate throughout the session.

As play resumes, Bangladesh will look to wrap up the innings swiftly, while Sri Lanka aim to stretch their lead beyond 200 and further tighten their grip on the match.
