Bangladesh has been drawn in Group A of the Saff Under-17 Championship alongside hosts Sri Lanka and Nepal. The regional youth tournament will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 15 to 27 September.

The draw for the seven-team tournament was held in Dhaka on Sunday, with coaches, referees, and the match commissioner of the ongoing Saff Women’s Under-20 Championship also in attendance.

Group A consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal.

The four-team Group B includes defending champions India, Pakistan, Bhutan, and the Maldives.

Last year, Bangladesh reached the final of the Saff Under-17 Championship in Bhutan but lost 2-0 to India. This time, Bangladesh faces a comparatively easier group. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, and Bangladesh is expected to have a manageable contest against Sri Lanka and Nepal.

The final is scheduled for 27 September.

Saff General Secretary Purushottam Kuttal and coaches and officials from the participating nations were present at the draw event in Dhaka.
