Bangladesh made a flying start to their AHF Under-18 Asia Cup Hockey campaign, defeating Hong Kong 3–0 in their opening Pool A match on 3 July in Dazhou, China.

The star of the match was Din Islam, who scored twice—once from open play and once from a penalty corner—to steer his side to a comfortable victory. His efforts earned him the player-of-the-match award.

Bangladesh took the lead in the 20th minute through Din’s field goal, and he doubled the advantage six minutes later with a well-executed penalty corner. Amit Hasan then sealed the win in the 43rd minute, converting another penalty corner to make it 3–0.

The rest of the match saw no further goals, with Bangladesh dominating proceedings and holding their lead with composure. The result places them at the top of Pool A, level on points but ahead on goal difference.

Apart from Bangladesh and Hong Kong, Pool A also includes China, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. The Bangladeshi youth side will face Sri Lanka in their second group-stage match on 5 July. Both the men’s and women’s teams from Bangladesh are taking part in the tournament, which began earlier this week in Dazhou.
