A high-level meeting between Bangladesh and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has laid the foundation for deeper bilateral cooperation in football development.
The meeting, held at the TFF headquarters in Istanbul, brought together Bangladesh’s Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan and TFF President Ibrahim Ethem Hacıosmanoğlu. According to a press release, both parties expressed a strong commitment to enhancing collaboration in football and promoting people-to-people ties through sport.
During the meeting, the Bangladeshi Adviser highlighted the recent revival of football in Bangladesh, citing the inclusion of players of Bangladeshi origin in the national team and the government’s ongoing efforts to establish a sustainable football ecosystem. He also acknowledged the widespread popularity of the Turkish national team among Bangladeshi fans and proposed a friendly match between the two countries to boost sporting ties.
The TFF president welcomed the idea and suggested that, if all arrangements fall into place, a women’s international friendly between Bangladesh and Turkey could be held as early as August. He also pledged full support for Bangladesh’s football development, including technical assistance, coach and referee training, support in sports medicine, and knowledge-sharing programmes.
During the conversation, the Bangladeshi Adviser commended Türkiye’s humanitarian leadership in the Muslim world and expressed admiration for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s contributions on the global stage.
The meeting concluded with the Adviser formally inviting the TFF president to attend the Global Youth Summit, scheduled to take place in Bangladesh in September.
Both sides expressed confidence that the meeting marked the beginning of a new chapter in Bangladesh–Türkiye sports cooperation—one that will pave the way for more strategic, inclusive, and sustained partnerships in the near future.
