Acting Chairman of BNP, Tarique Rahman, remarked that Bangladesh has managed to become an exemplary model of religious harmony.

He stated, “Through the traditional cooperation of everyone in celebrating the Durga Puja festival smoothly, an exemplary model of religious harmony has already been firmly established in this country.”

The BNP acting chairman made these comments in a statement on Wednesday.

The largest religious festival of the Hindus, Durga Puja, is approaching. On the occasion of the festival, Tarique Rahman extended his good wishes to Hindus all over Bangladesh.

Tarique Rahman alleged, “In the recent past, fugitive beneficiaries of the previous autocratic regime have, on multiple occasions during the Durga Puja festival, attempted to disrupt this traditionally established communal harmony through various malicious acts driven by base and dishonest political motives.”

He further said, “Although the autocracy has fallen, their conspiracies have not ended, as we have seen vivid examples in recent times. Ahead of this year’s Durga Puja, we must maintain the highest vigilance and preparedness to resist any such attempts.”

The BNP acting chairman stated, “BNP, along with all its wings and associate organisations, must coordinate and provide maximum support to ensure the smooth celebration of the Durga Puja festival for Hindus, with the assistance of people from all levels.”

He added, “We respect the religious rights of every citizen of this country. We are committed to upholding religious harmony in Bangladesh, and our stance against any vile attempt to disrupt it is firm and clear.”
