Import and export activities in the country’s Banglabandha Land port have resumed following a week-long closure for the Eid-ul-Adha.
Banglabandha Land Port In-charge Abul Kalam Azad said trade operations involving goods-laden trucks from Bangladesh, India, and Bhutan began on Monday morning.
Trading at the port remained suspended from 25 May to 31 May due to the Eid. However, passenger movement through the immigration checkpoint was normal during that time.
With trade resuming, the port’s roads and yards have regained their bustle, now crowded with labourers, importers and exporters.
Port authorities said 64 trucks of stone were imported from Bhutan in the first phase, while 19 trucks carrying soybean meal and jute rolls were exported from Bangladesh at the same time.
