Axentec to study feasibility of 5G smart port services at Chittagong Port

Axentec PLC, a subsidiary of Robi Axiata PLC, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chittagong Port Authority to conduct a feasibility study for providing smart port services through automation, according to a press release.

The signing ceremony, held on Sunday afternoon at the Port Authority office, was attended by Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun as chief guest. Chittagong Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral M Muniruzzaman and Axentec Managing Director and CEO Adil Hossain Noble signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.

Under the MoU, Axentec will examine the feasibility of building a 5G-based private network for the port. The study will identify areas of technical cooperation for services such as overall security monitoring, smart access control, automation of the port’s testing lab, and smart operation of vehicles and gantry cranes.

Adil Hossain Noble said the agreement marks a milestone in Robi’s 5G progress at the enterprise level. “We are optimistic that our 5G smart solution will play a role in increasing the efficiency of the port authority,” he said.

The event was also attended by Robi Axiata Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer Shahed Alam, Cluster Market Director Md Ashraful Kabir, Axentec Chief Commercial Officer Abul Kalam Mohammad Nazmul Islam, Director of Corporate Business Md Asaduzzaman, and senior officials from both organisations.
